Rec 1

Lineage: ? gen tape > CDR > EAC > Wav > Flac Level 8

Disc One:

1. DSOTM Suite (44:31)

Disc two:

1. One of These Days/Careful With That Axe, Eugene (29:35)
2. Echoes (25:51)
3. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (13:25)

This is a straight transfer of rec 1 from a digitally unprocessed source that sounds lower gen than the 1st gen source previously uploaded. For some reason OOTD was tracked with CWTAE. I left as is. I got this from a great trader named Jody in the early 2000s who had some nice transfers of low gen shows. My source for Dr. Who in Denmark also came from him. Unfortunately the lineage is not known to me and I don’t know where he got his sources.

This has less hiss and a smoother feel to it than other versions, mastered nicely. I am not representing this as gen 0, but it sounds at least a generation better than the other unprocessed source, which would logically make this a master.

As for a comparison with the Nipote tape, this is a comparable quality, but it is a matter of taste as to which you prefer, processed or unprocessed. Nothing was done to remove tape noise or increase the highs on this transfer.

This source did not need SPC so it remained untouched by me other than to rip and flac it. I would not consider this a major upgrade; the source is still rather poor but it is nice to have a better unprocessed source.
